The book A Guide to Microsoft Office 97 from Lawrenceville Press defines a presentation as "a lecture, speech, or other informative talk that usually includes visuals." (p. 15-1) The visuals can come in a variety of formats, including chart tablets, overhead transparencies, or computer-generated slides. PowerPoint is one of the programs that create those computer-generated slides.
One presentation tool which we will use this semester is PowerPoint. It is a component of Microsoft Office. PowerPoint can also be purchased separately. I have chosen this tool because it is becoming a standard in the profession.
This tool will be used for our personal portfolios. It can also organize the presentation of solutions for the project groups and the teaching of the mini-lessons.
The following lessons are intended to help you with this process.
