Our goal in this course is to choose a problem and solve it. Along the way you will learn about the technology necessary to solve the problem, as well as some specific programs I believe you should know for the field of Education. Reference: Problems as Possibilities: Problem-Based Learning for K-12 Education by Linda Torp and Sara Sage.
Torp and Sage define PBL as follows: "Problem-based learning is focused, experiential learning (minds-on, hands-on) organized around the investigation and resolution of messy, real-world problems. It is both a curriculum organizer and instructional strategy, two complementary processes. PBL includes three main characteristics:

This model requires the students to construct answers. The main idea is that the problem is the organizing center, the teacher is the coach, and the student is the active learner who is constructing meaning and solving problems.
We will need to form groups and select a problem. This problem will guide our study throughout the course of the semester. Please email the group with your ideas.
