2. We need to encourage our members to submit the Call for
Papers by May 17. We will meet again tomorrow at the Marriot
Starbucks to submit suggestions to Sharon as to who should present
at NABE next year.
3. We need our members to run for NABE Board. After considerable
effort during the past year, Leon Rattler was nominated at the
NABE Nominations process today.
4. We need more tribes to be visible in all the activities, performances,
and displays of each conference.
a. Each member will encourage schools and individuals to apply
for NABE participation.
b. Considerable discussion was held at the meeting and outside
of the meeting about how to promote visibility next year.
c. Christine Sims of Acoma Pueblo received the NABE President's
Award this year for her efforts in Indigenous Bilingual Education.
5. Discussion of issues.
a. Web site, chat room, and list serve for the SIG: http://www.wnmu.org/ibe/index.html
b. Each member is encouraged to contact their legislators through
http://congress.org to encourage legislation that takes into consideration
indigenous languages and education.
6. Election of Officers
