This curriculum will help students explore the following cultures: Mexican, Japanese, Dutch and Cowboy.


Dutch Culture in Gallup

Students will research Dutch settlers involvement in establishing the Christian Reformed Church Mission in Gallup. Students will create a power point presentation on the historical implication of the Rehoboth Mission in Gallup NM. Multi Media CD-ROM

Student will learn beginning Dutch through the use of Multimedia Software. Dutch for beginners software can be found at http://www.logoi.com/dutch.html.

Power Point

Students will create a power point presentation on a Gallup resident who identifies with Dutch culture. Students can search for a person through the Internet site www.dutch.meetup.com . Students will be expected to create six slides that focus on: Dutch food, history, language, schools, and art

  • Student will call Gallup Historical Society for information on Dutch people throughout Gallup History. Phone: 505-863-1363
  • Students will contact Museum of New Mexico History Library for Dutch History in New Mexico. 505-827-6470.
  • Students will intereview a Dutch Speaking Gallup resident about their culture and experience in Gallup. They will use www.dutch.meetup.com to find Dutch Speaking people in Gallup.
  • Other places to contact include Rehoboth Christian School at http://www.rcsnm.org/and Rehoboth McKInley Christian Health Care Services at 505-863-700 or http://www.rmch.org/.
